Assignment 3: Cubic Playground


Assignment 3 Objectives:

This week you will undertake a re-configuration of your block models. Using the distinct blocks you will create a playground structure that is no larger than 6 blocks wide, 6 blocks deep, and 3 blocks top. You may add 5 blocks to your model. 

Assignment 3 Deliverables:

Week 9 &10: Playground Plan, Section, Elevation, and Isometric

  • Develop your new model using your previous blocks and 5 additional cubes.

  • Develop a design statement about your playground design.

  • Develop a plan, section, elevation, and isometric drawings on trace paper.

  • All drawings should include 2 entourage figures (use the provided silhouettes).

  • Your drawings should include shade and shadow.

  • There should be a clear use of line weights.


Week 11 to 14: One Point, Two Point Perspective & Composite Drawing

  • Develop a measured one-point perspective on a 18” x 24” vellum sheet.

  • Develop a measured two-point perspective on a 18” x 24” vellum sheet.

  • Develop a single composition that includes your plan, section, and elevational drawings on a 18” x 24” sheet.

  • Final presentation design statement.

  • Final presentation sketch & presentation plan (in-class exercise).

  • All drawings should include at least two scale figures.

  • All drawings should be rendered with a method of your choice.

  • Your final drawing should include a title block.
