Assignment 1.3: Cubic Section


Due: Week 4 at the start of class

Assignments are to be pinned up at the start of lab on Monday or Tuesday depending on student's schedule.

Assignment 1.3 Objectives:

This week you will complete a series of four sectional drawings of your cube model. This will require you to use line weights to show the depth of each section of the model.

Assignment 1.3 Deliverables:

Complete one section, (4) four in total, of your model, looking from the front, left, right, and back.

  • This is a measured drawing @ 1" = 1" scale.

  • This will be composed on trace or vellum measuring 18" x 24" 

Your final drawing should: 

  • Be drawn with three distinct line weights and line control to express visual depth. 

  • There should be a clear use of line weights. 

  • Include a title block. The title block should include the following information. 

    • Your name 

    • Name of the assignment 

    • Date 

    • Instructor’s name

Assignment 1.3 Learning Outcomes:

  • Drawing Control: 80%

    • Students will demonstrate a clear ability to control line weights, line quality, tone, and texture.

  • Model Iteration: 10%

    • Students will demonstrate a willingness and ability to practice the craft of developing their project. This may require you to model your project multiple times, exploring multiple ideas.

  • Rigor: 10%

    • Students will demonstrate a willingness and ability to practice the craft of developing their project. This may require you to draw an item several times. Develop trace underlays or seek assistance when completing a drawing.
