Blossom
Critic: Sylvia Acosta
Year: 2010 - 2011
Duration: 8 Weeks
Blossom was a group design build during my second term at RISD. It was a design build project, in conjunction with the Chinese Christian church of Pawtucket Rhode Island, and the YMCA housed within.
As a group we designed, and built two pavilions; one for gathering along the Blackstone River, and one that was in response to the need of a new community garden. The two pavilions were restricted to construction that we, as an unskilled work force, could manage and construct in seven weeks. This process took the organization of 72 individuals and a variety of small groups to allow design, drawings, and construction to happen simultaneously. In the ind the project was a wonderful success at the site and in the classroom.
